Iowa Department of Education launches new Attendance Center Ranking website -
A new Iowa Department of Education website is now available that provides Iowans with a snapshot of how public schools and school districts are performing in two areas: student proficiency rates and growth toward college and career readiness. Users of the site can look up this information for any Iowa public school or district, including Ankeny.
View information and the new Attendance Center Rankings website here.

Kindergarten registration forms for Ankeny Schools' 2015-2016 school year are now available online.  Completed forms should be brought to the registration meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2015.  If you have a child who will be five years of age on or before September 15, 2015, please plan to attend the kindergarten registration at your current neighborhood attendance center.  Read more about Kindergarten registration night here.
National World War II Museum Blog to Display AHS Student Posters
US History students from Andrew Bouskas' classes at Ankeny High School will have World War II propaganda posters, which they created as a part of their class, displayed on the National World War II Museum blog in the near future. Read more about their posters here.
School Calendar Approval Process on Hold Pending IDOE Guidance:
Approval and publication of the Ankeny Schools 2015-2016 school calendar is currently on hold pending guidance from the Iowa Department of Education (IDOE) regarding new rules for school start dates. This guidance is expected in January, after which the school district will continue its calendar approval process and announce the availability of the school calendar to parents.  The IDOE has informed school districts that they will not automatically grant waivers to start the school year early, as in the past.  This clearly has great implications for Ankeny Schools due to the high percentage of students who earn post-secondary dual credits through Advanced Placement (AP) courses.  Additional guidance from the IDOE is expected in January. We apologize for any inconvenience this delay in publication may cause.
Classes to be in session on April 24 snow make-up day:
Due to classes being cancelled for inclement weather on January 7, Ankeny Schools will use the April 24 “Built in Snow Day” shown on the district calendar to make up the missed day.  Instead of being a day off from school, regular classes will be in session and students will attend school on Friday, April 24.
Former Ankeny French Students Visit ACHS
Former Ankeny students Katie Powers and Kevin Hyler recently returned to Ankeny Centennial High School to present information to students about studying abroad. Katie and Kevin are both enrolled in engineering at Iowa State University; however, spent time studying overseas during 2014. Read more about their visit to ACHS here.

Take appropriate steps to help keep Ankeny students and schools healthy -
You may have noticed a number of news reports lately about the flu.  Flu season is definitely upon us, and our nurses want to remind everyone of procedures that can help minimize the spread of flu.
On behalf of all Ankeny Schools students and staff, thank you for taking time to follow these guidelines and help to keep our schools healthy.
