Parents: Please take the School-Year Calendar Planning Survey -
Each year, Ankeny Schools’ staff, administration and Board representatives meet to discuss and plan the school calendar. Part of that planning includes surveying parents regarding their preferences and using that feedback to guide our decisions through the process.

We are beginning our planning process for the 2015-2016 school calendar, and would like to invite parents to take our brief nine-question, multiple-choice survey found at the following link:

Celebrate our middle school students during Young Adolescent Month:
Ankeny is home to nearly 3,000 young adolescents, who live, learn and grow together in our city.  Despite rapid life changes, these extraordinary young people make meaningful and significant contributions.  This is why October is designated as Ankeny’s Month of the Young Adolescent, and why Ankeny celebrates the diverse talents, personalities and achievements of our middle school-aged students.  Read more about what you can do to celebrate the lives of these young people.

Annual Progress Report available online:
Each year in September, the district publishes an annual report for the prior school year.  This report details, among other things, long-range goals, annual improvement in terms of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), year-over-year Iowa Assessment scores and ACT scores.

The 2013-2014 Annual Progress Report of the Ankeny Community School District is now available online here.
Ankeny parents may qualify for refund through Iowa School Food Settlement -

Recently, a class action lawsuit involving the Iowa Educators’ Corporation was settled.  As a result of this settlement, you may be eligible for a refund up to $3.50 per student per year during a set period of time, with a maximum of $50 per student. Information regarding claiming this refund may be found by clicking here.  Contact information and a claim filing tool are included.

District reports greater clarity, improved process and staff development around homework and grading -
Grading and homework practices in Ankeny Schools are more clearly defined at the district’s secondary schools this year, and parents and students have greater access to that information according to an update given to the Board of Education Monday night.  In addition, teachers have received more training and were given flexibility to define certain aspects of grading within set guidelines.  Read the full article here.
