One of the primary responsibilities of the local school board is the establishment of policy. The Board of Directors of the Ankeny Community Schools establishes policy through a Board Policy Review Committee consisting of three board members and the Superintendent. The Board President oversees the work of the committee. The committee submit final recommendations to the full board for adoption.

The Policy Review Committee is also responsible for systematically reviewing one-third of the district's policy manual each year and making recommendations to the Board for revisions. The Committee receives input from the full board, the administration and staff, and the public. Notices and agendas of committee meetings may be found at Public Meetings.
