New Secondary Education Facility -

The Ankeny Community School District continues to show its commitment to the youth and community of Ankeny, Iowa by providing outstanding facilities as a tool in the process of providing educational opportunities to its residents.

The planned secondary education facility illustrated here in conceptual form is the first step in a multi-phase process to expand, upgrade and maintain District-wide facilities. This facility features new educational ideas not found in other Central Iowa Districts. Most notably, the Small Learning Community concept will enhance Personalization, Instructional Focus and assist in maintaining the unique Identity and potential of each student attending the secondary education facility in Ankeny.

The design of the facility is unique in that it will open for the entire high school student population with the anticipated construction of a future second high school and conversion of the new facility to include a middle school program shortly there after. Among such design features as natural lighting, enhanced technology, safety and security, each Small Learning Community provides the opportunity for Collaboration and Flexible Classroom spaces. While the high school and middle school programs will co-exist under one roof, steps have been taken to assure each program remains separate.
