Ankeny Community School District’s transportation services are contracted through Durham School Services. Transportation questions should be directed to Durham School Services at 965-9615. The Ankeny Community School District is working cooperatively with Durham School Services. If student discipline problems arise, issues will be handled in the same manner as in the past through the cooperative efforts of the child, driver, parent, and principal. More information is available in the district's transportation handbook.
Following is the District’s policy for transportation:
State law requires school districts to provide transportation to elementary and middle school students living two or more miles from their attendance centers and to high school students living three or more miles from Ankeny High School. Ankeny Community Schools follows State guidelines when determining eligibility for busing. Measurements are made using the public streets with a calibrated mechanical foot meter starting at the nearest entrance to the school grounds and ending in the street opposite the entrance to the student’s home. Note: Do not use a car or truck odometer to measure the distances. They are not accurate enough for this purpose.
Students eligible for busing to the middle schools and high school will be picked up at neighborhood elementary buildings or designated pickup points.
Middle School and/or High School students living in the following development or beyond the following locations are eligible for busing:
