SUPERINTENDENT’S ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING

MARCH 15, 2001

 

 

Dr. Hartzler called the meeting to order in Dr. Norman’s absence

Mary Liechty will record the minutes of this meeting.

Kevin Koester, Director of Community Education

Guest speaker Kevin Koester discussed the 2000 Community Betterment Survey results. This survey is conducted every five years, with the first survey being done in 1980. The survey is from a random sampling of 400 residents, and several city agencies are involved. It is a joint effort with the Chamber of Commerce, Neveln Center, United Way, and Ankeny Family YMCA. The Superintendent’s Advisory Committee discusses how to use the information.

Lance Wilhelm, Technology Coordinator for the School District

Guest speaker Lance Wilhelm reported that the data from the last meeting will be used to apply for technology grants. A national set of technology standards for literate students was distributed. It is used as a model for the district. Lance shared the future direction of technology for the district.

Open Forum

  1. Lighting for the parking lot between Parkview and Terrace was discussed
  2. Band-O-Rama – is it positive or not? Parent behavior is an issue.
  3. Grade issue – how do we ensure grades are current and correct?
