ANKENY, Iowa (August 9, 2016) - Ankeny has been named the third best small city for families in the midwest and 11th in the nation by NerdWallet, a consumer financial advocacy website. NerdWallet analyzed data from 245 places in the U.S. with populations from 25,000 to 100,000. They looked at the following factors:
home value and affordability
median annual income
prosperity and growth
NerdWallet measured each school's academic performance with ratings from GreatSchools, a non-profit organization that compares schools based on test scores and other available data, including student academic growth, and college readiness.
"Ankeny has a very high-performing school district," said NerdWallet analyst Mike Anderson. "The high school graduation rate is 93.5 percent, nearly three points higher than the state average at 90.8 percent."
