ACHS Marching Band Takes Top Honors

ANKENY, Iowa (September 30, 2016) - Congratulations to the Ankeny Centennial High School Marching Band for taking top honors at the Pella Marching Dutch Invitational.    ACHS was awarded first place and Best Colorguard with 21 bands in competition.
 
 “I couldn’t be happier with the hard work and dedication that the band has put into this year’s show. I can’t wait to see what they are able to accomplish in the coming weeks,” said Scott Hook, Director of Bands.
 
The Ankeny Centennial High School Marching Band consists of 181 students in grades 9-12 and is directed by Scott Hook, Burton Hable, Janelle Hook, Mary Harris, and Jake Thieben. They are assisted by Dr. Chad Lensch, David Raver, Steven Holms, Dan Poe, and Brogan Kearney.

Their show is entitled “Comedy & Tragedy: The Works of William Shakespeare.”  It features music from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” by Felix Mendelssohn, and “Romeo and Juliet” by Pyotr Tchaikovsky.

ACHS' next competition is the Valleyfest Showdown in West Des Moines, on October 8. They will perform at 8:45pm.
