ANKENY, Iowa (October 17, 2016) - Southview ninth grader Jae Swanepoel presented his award-winning technology project at the Iowa Technology and Education Connection Conference (ITEC) at Iowa State University on October 11.
Swanepoel's project was named one of the best projects at the Central Iowa's Spring Technology Fair at Iowa State for his innovative use of technology. The few student standouts who received "best-in-show" distinction were asked to present at this fall's ITEC.
Swanepoel created a Wii remote-controlled, 3D printed, R2D2. He then programmed the robot, Raspberry PI, to receive commands from the Wii remote via Bluetooth connection to control three separate motors.
