405.20 Classified Employee Probationary Status

All classified employees are considered “at will” and serve at the pleasure of the Board. The first 95 working days of a newly employed classified staff member is considered probationary. “Day” is defined as one work day regardless of full-time or part-time status of the employee. New employees, regardless of experience, are subject to this probationary period.

“New” employees include individuals who are being hired for the first time by the District in either a permanent full- or part-time status. Probationary employees are not eligible for transfer pursuant to the terms of the collective bargaining agreement. Additionally probationary employees hired prior to July 1 are not eligible for any negotiated increase until the employee has completed the probationary period.
