505.06 Early Graduation

Students may graduate prior to the completion of grade twelve if the course work required for graduation under Board Policy #505.05-Graduation Requirements has been fulfilled.

Students graduating early shall receive their diploma when the current year graduating class receives their diploma and shall be allowed to participate in the next regularly scheduled graduation ceremony. Early graduates may also participate in prom.

It shall be the responsibility of the Superintendent/designee to develop administrative regulations regarding this policy.

Application Process for Early Graduation:

  1. Student must initiate contact with school counselor prior to November 1 of the student’s senior year.
  2. School counselor will review the student’s transcript to determine if all graduation requirements have been met.
  3. A conference will be held between the student, parent, counselor, and principal/ designee to approve the early graduation request prior to the end of 1st semester.
  4. Juniors seeking to graduate at the end of the junior year will follow the same procedures as outlined above. (November 1 of their junior year)
  5. Juniors who are approved to graduate a year early will then be classified as a senior during the 2nd semester of their junior year.
  6. Juniors graduating a year early will be eligible for the following Student Recognition Awards:
    • Principal’s Rigor Award
    • Principal’s Leadership Award
  7. Juniors graduating a year early will not be eligible for the following Student Recognition Awards:
    • Honors Diploma
    • Graduation Speaker
    • Principal’s Scholar Award
    • Principal’s Academic Award
    • Silver Cord
