701.40 Eligibility for Free or Reduced Cost Meals

Free or reduced cost meals will be provided to those students whose parents or guardians fill out a current school year eligibility application and meet the income guidelines as set by the USDA under the National School Lunch Program and National School Breakfast Program guidelines.  At least twice annually, the District will provide parents notice of availability of free or reduced meals for eligible student via letter or email.

The District may take up to 10 working days to determine eligibility. All eligible applications will be forwarded to the Nutrition Services Department.. The Nutrition Services will review all eligible applications to determine if an application meets the income guidelines as established by the USDA. Disagreement with the eligibility determination will be arbitrated with the Superintendent/designee. There will be no physical segregation or other discrimination against any student because of the inability to pay.
