702.21 Iowa Drug and Alcohol Testing Program

Employees who operate school vehicles transporting 16 or more persons, including the driver, or who operate vehicles weighing over 26,000 pounds, are subject to random drug and alcohol testing if a commercial driver’s license is required. It is the responsibility of the Superintendent/designee to notify employees of the drug and alcohol testing program requirements.

Employees governed by the policy who are in violation may be subject to repeated testing, required participation in a substance abuse treatment program, discipline, or termination. A second violation of this policy will result in termination. Compliance with the drug and alcohol testing program is a condition for continued employment.
