Students will be identified for the Ankeny Extended Learning Program (AELP) based on general intellectual ability. A modified version of David Lohman and Joseph Renzulli’s identification matrix will be used to combine Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) scores and Iowa Assessment scores, resulting in potential AELP identification. Identification may also result from the Student Academic Intervention (SAI) process. The SAI process is founded on the Response to Intervention (RTI) research. Students who show ample evidence of an academic need that is beyond high quality differentiated supplemental core instruction will be referred to the AELP department for further consideration.
Information on the Cognitive Abilities Test is provided below for parents and teachers.
