Sixth Grade Gold Social Studies
Welcome to "Ancient Civilizations"!  I've been teaching since earning my bachelor's degree from Drake University in 1995, and I'm constantly seeking for ways to improve my skills and my students' learning.  The purposes of this page are to communicate with families about current and upcoming school and classroom events and to provide links to curriculum resources.  To view the website students access in the classroom,  please click this link to my Ancient Civilizations Weebly site.

Professional Beliefs
I believe together we can and should accentuate the positives in all students and staff. We can choose our attitude and work hard to positively influence each others' day. Teaching offers me the opportunity to work collaboratively with my colleagues to make a positive and significant impact on students and grow as a professional. As a sixth grade teacher, I look forward to the uniqueness and celebrations each day brings, including the collaborative problem solving used to overcome challenges.
Personal Interests
When I’m not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two daughters, traveling (especially to National Parks), exercising at fitness classes, playing guitar and piano, competing in volleyball, singing in my church choir, building and fixing things around the house, reading, being creative with drawing, photography, and digital arts, and exploring the internet. Growing up near Milwaukee, Wisconsin, I have been a huge Green Bay Packer fan all my life.  I earned my undergraduate degree from Drake University in 1995, and later earned my master's degree from Viterbo University. As for other random information, over the course of my career, I have collected and worn a wide variety of neckties, particularly ones that start conversations with kids at school. I also love chocolate chip cookies (especially if they’re homemade), ice cream, and frozen yogurt.
