  • Algebra 1 - Mr. Luttenegger

Welcome to Algebra class! We are excited to be in the fourth year of our CPM (College Preparatory Mathematics) curriculum which emphasizes group discovery and discourse along with daily homework practice. The course chapter outline is displayed below along with a variety of resources (and the course syllabus when it becomes available).

Students will need EITHER a scientific calculator (TI-30XIIS preferred) or a graphics calculator (TI-84 Plus CE preferred) for the course. Students may already have a scientific calculator from an earlier course, and it will work great for both the algebra and geometry courses the next two years. Families are welcome, however, to purchase the TI-84 Plus CE graphics calculator if desired, as this will be the calculator that is used in Algebra 2, Trigonometry and other higher level high school math courses. The graphics calculators are quite a bit more expensive, so it is important for the students to be prepared to be responsible for the calculator if that is the option for your family. Students will be successful in algebra with either a scientific or graphics calculator!!

      Parent Guides

Sometimes students or parents want an alternative explanation of an idea along with additional practice problems. The Parent Guide resource HERE are arranged by chapter and concept. The format of these resources is a brief restatement of the idea, some traditional examples, practice problems, and their solutions.
