February 15 Ankeny Board of Education Recognitions

The following individuals were recognized at the February 15 Board of Education meeting for their positive impact on the Ankeny Schools Community. Thank you for your service to our students and community!

Nate Evans, an educator at Parkview Middle School, was recognized at the February 15 board meeting for creating a non-profit, Woodworking with a Purpose, that has built hundreds of desks for students throughout central Iowa.

As of the February 15 board meeting, Evans had made around 1,115 desks for these students and has been recognized on the national and local news.

Lauren Linge, art teacher and a leader of the Gender Sexuality Alliance (GSA) at Southview Middle School, was also recognized at the February 15 board meeting.

Linge was commended for their leadership in the Southview Middle School GSA, which aims to educate all about LGBTQ+ issues while providing a confidential and safe environment for students to support and empower the LGBTQ+ Community.
