Ankeny High School and Southview Middle School placed first in the Division 1 and 2 Iowa State Knowledge Bowl High school Championships at DMACC.
The Varsity High School team consisting of 10th and 11th graders won the championship by beating Johnston in the finals. The middle school team consisting of 8th and 9th graders beat all of the Small School High School teams from around the State of Iowa.
The Championship match in this division went into overtime with Southview outlasting PCM. This is the first time ever that two teams from the same feeder system won state crowns at the same time. The contest includes questions from Geography, History, Literature, Science and Math.
“I am amazed and very proud of these students the fact that these are 8th and 9th graders going up against Juniors and Seniors shows us that our school district is amazing. Also the high school team did a great job in returning the state crown to Ankeny.” said Nathan Coombes Ankeny quiz bowl coach.
