Project Mentor / Teacher – Orbis

Hi!  I’m a project mentor with the Orbis program and I’m also an assistant coach for the CHS girls’ tennis team.  Prior to helping launch Orbis in 2018, I taught physics and Principles of Engineering at CHS and before that I taught middle school physical science at Northview Middle School.  I’ve been teaching in Ankeny since 2005.  

I attended Michigan State University (GO GREEN!) for my undergraduate work and I earned my master’s degree in education from Viterbo University.

At Orbis, I mentor innovators (Orbis students) as they collaborate on authentic projects to impact their community.  We focus on helping innovators develop valuable success skills like how to collaborate, communicate, creatively solve abstract problems, and positively influence those around them. 

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my wife and 3 kids (2 girls and 1 boy), playing most sports, hunting, and camping.  I also used to coach 8th grade football here in Ankeny.
