Literacy Kelli Oliver

Greetings Ankeny students and families!  My name is Mrs. Oliver, and I am a 6th-grade literacy teacher at Prairie Ridge Middle School.  I moved to Ankeny several years ago while finishing my undergrad degree at Iowa State and have lived here ever since with my husband, Dennis, and two boys, Carson and Cruz. My personal educational journey began with an undergrad degree in elementary education followed by a master’s degree in Teacher Effectiveness and Professional Development from Drake.  I have an extensive background in literacy with a couple of literacy-related endorsements and a literacy specialist degree from Drake.  My teaching career began with student teaching in Ankeny, which then led me to a wide range of experiences in elementary teaching for 7 years in both 5th and 3rd grade.  For the past several years, I have specialized in the area of literacy teaching 6th grade reading and writing on the 6A team.  I love being able to focus on one content area and support kids in their reading growth and development.  It is my personal belief that there is no greater gift than teaching kids how to become exceptional readers and writers!
