Literacy Leah Preisser

I’m Mrs. Preisser (pronounced Prize-er) and I have been teaching at Parkview since 2012. I teach 7th-grade Literacy on the Maroon team. I’m also the Yearbook advisor. I’m excited to be back at Parkview. I grew up in Ankeny and graduated in 2005. I graduated from Iowa State University in 2009 as an English Education major with endorsements in Reading and TESOL. Then, I moved out to California, first L.A. and then San Diego, and worked for the school districts and the Center for Autism and Related Disorders as a behavior therapist. My husband, Justin, and I decided to move back to Iowa to be close to family. I then completed my master’s at Drake University. We have three kids: Arden, Nova, and Maxton. We adore our mini golden doodle named Wilson.

Through change comes innovation and opportunity. I enjoy guiding students to use literacy skills as a way to communicate and express their thoughts and ideas for a larger audience outside the classroom and to help represent and support their community.

Want to order a yearbook? The yearbook is student-designed and created by 6th and 7th graders at PV. It also helps support our school for student and teacher supplies for learning. It makes a great keepsake with student portraits, events from the school year, and interactive places for students to write down memories from the year to remember.
