Science Lori Bing

Welcome. My name is Lori Bing. Since 1990, I have taught high school students multiple life science courses including Advanced Placement/DMACC  Biology, Biology, Enriched Biology, Advanced Genetics and Biotechnology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Plant Science. Inspiring students to be passionate about science is the core of my philosophy of education.  Biological science relates to every student, no matter what career they choose to pursue.  I strive for each of my students to believe that he or she can master difficult biological concepts, to continue to grow as critical thinkers and problem solvers, and to become life-long learners of biology.

I taught at Ankeny High School from 1993-2009 before moving to Indiana with my family. While there, I was honored to be selected by the National Association of Biology Teachers as the Outstanding Indiana Biology Teacher of the Year for 2015.  In 2018, my husband was transferred back to Iowa, so, I am thrilled to be teaching at Ankeny High School once again!

I received my Bachelor of Science in Biology and my Master of Science in Entomology from Iowa State University.  In addition, I am a proud graduate of Ankeny High School!

Once a Hawk, always a Hawk!
