Counselor Mary Snyder

Hello! My name is Mary Snyder and I have been a school counselor at Northview since August 2006. Ankeny is a wonderful place to be! I enjoy working with this age level for many reasons, but especially because it is a privilege to help young teenagers grow into young adults during their time at Northview. I have been working in the field of education for many years, starting  in  1984 as a music teacher in Melrose, MN. There have been a number of moves since then which included time at Morningside College in Sioux City, IA where I earned my degree to be a school counselor. When I’m not at school I enjoy working outside, playing music, or writing. In 2013 I wrote my first book titled “Teachable Moments: An insider’s guide to students and pregnancy, drinking, drugs, suicide, testing, lunch and other life issues”. More recently, in 2022, I published Moosefart: A man, a woman and a shattered dream. Both are available on Amazon if you are interested.
