Nicole Russell

Hello! My name is Nikki Russell and I will be teaching 5th grade at East Elementary this year. I come to East with 11 years teaching experience in Des Moines Public Schools. I have taught kindergarten, first, second, and have been an instructional coach for the past three years. I graduated from Drake University with a Master’s of Science in Teaching. I have endorsements in reading and ESL. Even though my teaching experience has been in primary grades, I have grown fond of upper elementary students and instruction through my time being an instructional coach. I cannot wait to help prepare our 5th grade students for middle school.

I live in Altoona with my husband, Bobby, and two daughters Summer (12) and Autumn (7). We have two dogs, Charlie and Lucy. Our family stays busy with dance, soccer, and being outdoors. I like to relax by reading, exercising, and cuddling with my dogs.

I look forward to building relationships with my students, families, and the Ankeny community.
