    With a history of more than 100 years of graduating classes and high achievement, Ankeny High School is one of the two premier Iowa high schools located within the Ankeny Community School District.

    The Home of The Hawks, AHS offers a well-rounded, comprehensive continuum of academics, athletics, arts and activities to its students. There is an expectation of excellence in everything we do, and Ankeny High School students and staff live up to that challenge every day.

    Mission

    The mission of Ankeny High School is for each student to exit with a basic core knowledge, communication skills, and critical thinking skills necessary to be a life-long, self-directed learner who is able to adapt successfully to a changing global and technological society. Also, our students will demonstrate responsible citizenship, as well as respect for themselves, others, and their environment.

    Curriculum

    Advanced Placement Opportunities: Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, Comparative Govt., English Composition I and II, Computer Science, Environmental Science, European History, Literature, Macro Economics, Micro Economics, Music Theory, Physics, Psychology, Statistics, U.S. Govt., and U.S. History (AP courses are designed to prepare students for success on the AP Exam in these subjects).

    Honors Courses: The "honors" designation indicates courses are taught at an accelerated pace. Honors courses do not receive weighted grade points.

    More than thirty courses are offered at A.H.S. for dual high school and college credit.

     

    Ankeny High School College courses are available through the Iowa Post-Secondary Options Enrollment Act and more than thirty courses are offered at AHS for dual high school and college credit.
