Mr. Eric Klingensmith
ELA Instructor/XC and Debate Coach
Good day and welcome to my faculty page! As many of you can read, my name is Eric Klingensmith and I am excited to begin this academic year. I've been teaching since 2001 and at ACHS since 2013. I will be teaching Argumentation and Debate, AP Language and Composition, and Literature 12 at ACHS, as well as coaching Ankeny High School Girls' Cross Country and Debate.
My wife, Kim, two daughters, Savannah and Trinity, and I moved to Ankeny in 2013 and thoroughly love our community and schools. We absolutely love to ride the bike trails and enjoy all the outdoor activities Ankeny has to offer. Additionally, I am an avid sports fan and am an Iowa Hawkeye and Missouri Tiger fan, as well as a loyal KC Chiefs, Royals, and Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
In my spare time I absolutely love to run in any and all climbs and places. An avid marathoner, I run several marathons (full and half), 10Ks, and 5Ks each year while training year round. My insane love of running stemmed from my 8 years serving in the United States Marine Corps where physical training (PT) was an essential part of my training. I am a combat veteran who served in Iraq and was honorably discharged in April of 2005 as a Sergeant. However, since the concept of being a former Marine is no longer an option, I still consider myself a Marine at heart. "Once a Marine, always a Marine."
I look forward to this year building a fabulous culture of learning and growth with each of our students at Ankeny Centennial. Let's continue to build traditions and legacies at ACHS!!!
