Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome. I'm Andrew Kruzich, social studies enthusiast and track & field coach. I teach Sociology, Sociology II, and U.S. Government. In previous years at Centennial and Ankeny High School I've also taught U.S. History, A. P. U.S. History, Western Civ, Study Strategies and American Culture.
I'm the head girls track & field coach, and I volunteer a bit with the girls cross country team. At Ankeny I was an assistant girls track coach every year there, and I was an assistant coach for boys cross country from 2005-2010.
I began teaching at Ankeny in 2005, but I'm a 1991 graduate of dear old AHS, where I was active in basketball, track, cross country, and The Talon. After student teaching and coaching at Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids, I began my teaching career at Louisa-Muscatine Jr./Sr. High School of Letts, IA in 1996. I served as the head girls basketball coach and assistant girls track coach. In 1999, I moved to Saint Albert Jr./Sr. High School in Council Bluffs, where I was the head boys track coach and assistant boys basketball coach. Over the years, I've taught not only U.S. History, but World History, Modern U.S. History, Sociology, Geography, Government, Basic U.S. History, Current Events, 8th grade Social Studies, Psychology, Introduction to Social Studies, Study Strategies, P.E., and Quest, a 7th grade exploratory. Yikes.
I graduated in 1995 from the University of Iowa with a B.A. in History and an undying love of Hawkeye sports. I received my M.S.E. from Drake in Effective Teaching, Learning & Leadership in 2000. In 2010, I finished up another degree in Educational Administration through Iowa State.
