Mr. Chris Allen
Welcome to my district page. I am excited to have another opportunity to communicate with my students, their parents and guardians, my colleagues, and the community.
I am a Language Arts teacher and an Instructional Coach at Centennial High School. I currently teach Literature 12 and serve as an Instructional Coach, engaging in and facilitating the professional learning of my peers. I utilize the PLC process, standards-referenced grading, and quality core instruction to best meet the needs of the diverse learners with whom I work. I really enjoy my subject matter and its content, but working with students, learning, and pursuing professional growth are my most important reasons for teaching. I have also developed a passion for supporting the learning growth of my colleagues. My role as an instructional coach will allow me to more readily engage in supporting my peers and their learning.
In 2002, I graduated from Buena Vista University and began teaching in Northwest Iowa that fall. I then taught at Ankeny Senior High School from 2006-2013 and started at Centennial during the 2013 school year. In 2009, I received my Master of Arts in Education from Viterbo University.
Besides my work in the classroom, I am involved in extra-curriculars in the district. I coach Varsity Girls' Soccer and helped start the Jaguar varsity program in 2013-2014. Please use the following link to visit the Jaguar girls soccer program. In the past, I have coached Ankeny Hawkette Soccer, track and field, and middle school football. I have also sponsored Friends of Rachel (a student group that promotes kindness and compassion), snowboarding club, and the yearbook.
I love my family, adventure, traveling, and excitement. My hobbies include bicycling, snowboarding, SCUBA diving, and playing anything competitive. I also enjoy a good book and am constantly reading two or three.
To reach me, call the high school at 515-965-9610 or contact me via e-mail at email@example.com. I recommend that you attempt to reach me through the provided e-mail address initially as email is often the most efficient way for me to communicate during the school day.
