Mrs. Amber Medici

6th Grade Family and Consumer Sciences and 7th Grade Exploring Tech

Hello!  My name is Amber Medici and I could not be more thrilled with the opportunity to teach both Family Consumer and Sciences and Exploring Tech for our district's middle schools.  I am fortuntate to split my time up between both courses and also both middle schools; I truly enjoy working with all the outstanding Jag and Hawk students and staff!

I graduated from Ankeny High School as a Hawk, but I have since split my dedication and passion towards both the Hawks and Jaguars!  I graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. in Community Health Education with an emphasis in Fitness/Wellness, and coaching.  I then went back to complete a passion of mine; teaching. I am certified to teach secondary education in Health, Family and Consumer Science, and PLTW.

I absolutely love working with kids not only in the classroom, but in sports and academic success labs as well.  I coached high school girls soccer (both for the Hawks and the Jaguars) for eight years, but after having my second little boy, I decided to redirect my free time with my family.

I am extremely passionate about teaching and I want my students to have a positive and memorable experience in my classroom.  I am determined to encourage, challenge and motivate students to meet their full potential.  My goal is to equip students with the knowledge and skills to succeed in their personal and family lives.

About FCS: Family and Consumer Sciences is filled with many hands-on learning activities. It is a nine week exploratory class that focuses on simple cooking methods, clothing care and button sewing, and babysitting and child development.

About Exploring Tech:  This class offers students the chance to gain experience with building and programming robots.  Students will get an opportunity to work individually as well as with other teammates to follow directions, problem solve, and create programs for a successful outcome.
