Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Amanda Balk
My name is Amanda Balk and I am a special education teacher at Southeast Elementary. I joined the district in 2017. Prior to that, I worked in the West Fork Community School District (2009-2011), and Bennington Community Schools, in Bennington, NE (2011-2017). I am a graduate of Luther College with my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and an endorsement as an Instructional Strategist: Learning Disabilities and Behavior Disorders. I earned my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership through the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 2017. Over the course of my career, I have worked with students of all abilities, ranging from elementary to students who are in a transitional program at the ages of 18-21.
My goal is for each student to build meaningful relationships that assist them in being successful, both in and out of school. I hope to instill the love of learning and working with others in each of the students I am privileged to work with.
I live in Ankeny with my husband, Derek and our two daughters, Hailey and Emma. When I am not at school I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, going to sporting events, traveling, and working out with friends.
I am looking forward to a wonderful year with our students and staff at Southeast!
