BA in French MA in Education
Mrs. Angela Worley Petersen
Bonjour, je m'appelle Madame Angela Worley Petersen.
This year I teach French levels III, IV, and V at Ankeny High School. Ankeny students who continue studying French through levels IV and V are very fortunate to be able to receive college credit through DMACC for the second semester of each course, and can leave AHS with 8 credits in French.
I came to the district in January of 2012 and taught middle school exploratory French and Spanish for 2.5 years. In the fall of 2014 I happily began my position at Ankeny High School teaching French. I grew up in Des Moines and love being back in Iowa after spending my college years in Missouri and France. In 2010 I graduated from Truman State University with a BA in French and graduated with my Masters in Education in 2011 from the same institution.
My husband, Keith, and I were married in July of 2016, and we live in Johnston. We enjoy hiking and travelling. One of my personal goals is to visit as many French speaking places as I possibly can. So far I've travelled all over France, and also to Monaco, Switzerland, Belgium, Canada, and Morocco. In 2009, I spent a semester studying in Aix-en-Provence, France and completed a graduate program in Lyon, France in the summer of 2011.
In June 2016 and June 2018 I had the pleasure of leading students on trips to France and Spain, and look forward to being involved in many more travel opportunities. 2017 allowed me to take students to France again in an exchange program. We're excited to offer another exchange opportunity with a wonderful group in Saint-Quentin, France, a city that has so much in common with Ankeny. It's incredible to see students applying their French language skills in the country!
I look forward to sharing my passion for the French language and culture with you.
