• state of iowa Seal of Biliteracy

We are excited to announce that Ankeny Community School District will award students the Seal of Biliteracy at graduation in 2020.

This award recognizes students who demonstrate an advanced level of academic proficiency in two or more languages, one of which is English. This accomplishment sets them apart from most high school graduates in the United States and sets them on the pathway to being a global citizen.

The Seal is consistent with Ankeny’s definition of college and career readiness which, in part, is the state of being fully prepared for a lifetime of personal success beyond high school, regardless of pathway after graduation.  Biliteracy promotes multilingual and multicultural competence which are marketable skills that prepare students for future success. It provides students with a competitive edge in the employment market as well as increased opportunities for higher education.

We look forward to honoring these students!
