Degrees and Certifications:
6th Grade Science Teacher
Hello, my name is Jacke Holland and I teach 6th grade science here at Parkview Middle School. Prior to joining the staff at Parkview, I taught at Anson and Miller Middle School in Marshalltown. In my six years at Anson, I taught math and science: one year of 6th grade and five years of 7th grade including sections of advanced math. When Anson closed, I moved to Miller to teach science; during my first years at Miller, we looped with students so I taught both 7th life and 8th physical science. I filled in one year as a school counselor before going back to the classroom as an 8th grade physical and earth science teacher. In addition to teaching, I coached basketball at the middle school level and volleyball at the middle and high school level before becoming the head volleyball coach at Marshalltown Community College (MCC). I am passionate about teaching and working with adolescent students and look forward to the upcoming year.
I obtained my Associate in Arts Degree from Waldorf College before earning my Bachelor of Arts Degree in elementary education from Simpson College. In 2009, I completed my Master of Science Degree in school guidance and counseling from Buena Vista University. To be an effective educator, I feel it is important to be a lifelong learner and I enjoy learning new things both within and outside of my profession.
Playing and watching sports are two things that I like to do in my spare time; I attend Iowa State volleyball matches and I am a huge Chicago Cubs fan. I also participate in several outdoor activities: golfing, biking, camping and boating. Traveling is something else that I enjoy and I hope to make a trip to Brazil to visit friends. Family and friends are important and I cherish the activities and time we spend together.
