October 9 Walk/Bike to School Event
Tomorrow, October 9, marks National Walk & Bike to School Day, a nationwide event encouraging students to incorporate physical activity into their daily routine by walking or biking to school. The Ankeny Police Traffic Unit is partnering with local schools to promote this important initiative, urging Ankeny students to get outside and embrace a healthy, active start to their day.
Officers from the Traffic Unit will be stationed at Westwood, Rock Creek, Abbie Grove, and East Elementary schools in the morning, ready to walk alongside students as they make their way to school. This initiative not only promotes fitness but also highlights the importance of road safety, as officers will be ensuring a safe journey for all participants.
Parents and students are encouraged to participate and take this opportunity to enjoy the fresh air, promote fitness, and foster a sense of community. National Walk & Bike to School Day is a great reminder of how small, daily activities like walking or biking can positively impact physical health and well-being.
Join the movement and help make tomorrow’s event a success!
