Ankeny Centennial FBLA Students Engage with State Government at CTE Day

Ankeny Centennial High School FBLA students had an exciting day at the Iowa State Capitol for CTE Day! This experience allowed them to connect with Career & Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) from across the state, engage with career-focused programs, and witness policymaking firsthand.

Throughout the day, students:

• Observed legislative sessions and committee meetings.
• Toured the Capitol, reaching the top for a stunning view.
• Met with Ryan Weldon and his clerk, Honor DeFord.
• Spoke with lobbyists about key policies.
• Learned from an Iowa State Patrol officer about his role.

This hands-on experience in government, policy, and leadership was invaluable. Thank you to Kristen Bandy and Iowa ACTE for organizing this impactful day!
