ANKENY, Iowa (March 7, 2017) - Ankeny High
School finished fourth in the state at the Iowa Quiz Bowl League (IQBL) Championships
at Waukee on March 4. The team consists of junior Colton Lammers; sophomores Kieran McCormick
and Colton Pilch; freshmen Sam Wu and Jackson Porter. The contest includes
questions in the fields of music, history, literature, science, math, and random
"I am proud
of these students for the way they have competed and battled all year," said Nathan Coombes, AHS Quiz Bowl team coach.
Two of the nine students selected for the 2017 IQBL All-State Honors are from AHS. Porter and McCormick were chosen for their excellent
play in quiz bowl events across Iowa during the 2016-2017 season. McCormick has earned the honor for a second consecutive year.

the best of what quiz bowl is about," said Jay Winter, IQBL CEO.
