Two mock trial teams from Southview Middle School competed in the regional mock trial competition in West Des Moines. There were 38 teams from around the metro area competing, the top 12 teams were chosen to move onto a single elimination playoff round.
The Southview "Gold" team earned a spot in the top 12 and represented Southview at the mock trial play-offs. Gold team members include Kaylie Brandhorst, Jemma Bullock, Elizabeth Clark, Natalie Phillips, Hannah Pross, Luke Robie, Connor Slack, Adam Snowden, and Gabe Wagner.
The Southview “Maroon” team had an outstanding day of competition as well, but did not qualify for the playoffs. The Maroon team members include Nicki Casady, Abby Johnson, Erin Kennedy, Marissa Larson-Minar, Kaden Leiendecker, Grant Miner, Lydia Pesek, and Maya Pilcher.
In addition, many students from both teams earned the distinction of "outstanding witness" or "outstanding attorney" for their performance at the competition.
