Pennies for Houston Drive

Parkview Middle School's LEAD Council initiated a "Pennies for Houston" drive following the devastation caused by hurricane Harvey. LEAD Council students felt it was important for Parkview students to get involved in some way to provide relief to the many suffering.

They decided that by organizing a "coin" drive, all students might have the ability to participate in some way. LEAD Council, with the support of advisory teachers, collected "Pennies for Houston" throughout the first week of September. The goal was to raise $1000. After delivering the significant amount of change to the bank, the final count was $1742.23. There were many students who emptied their penny banks, donated birthday money, and reached out to others to get donations.

The money will be donated to a fund through "Donor's Choose" which has a fund directly connected to schools affected by the storms.
