ANKENY, Iowa (July 21, 2016) - The Ankeny Centennial High School dance team brought home several awards, including a bid to Nationals, from the National Dance Alliance (NDA) Camp in Ames.
The team won the overall gold award for their performance and gold award for team leadership, overall technical excellence award, the Above & Beyond award, Spirit Stick, the NDA Staff Award for Best Representation, and received a superior rating.
Six team members were named to the All-American Team: Megan
Petersen, Taylor Gassmann, Kelly Muhlenbruck, Sophie Bergan, Emilee Petersen,
and Emily Hou.
In addition to their All-American selections, Hou was named Top All-American, and Emilee Petersen was named Top Gun Kick Winner.
"Camp provided us with the opportunity to improve as a team," said ACHS dance coach Madison Zirretta. "The team was very successful and grew tremendously within the few days we were there."
