Welcome to Prairie Ridge and the 2019-2020 School Year!
I hope you all have had a fantastic summer! We are looking forward to bringing the students back to school.
During the first few days of school, teachers will be focused on building relationships with students and practicing classroom procedures and routines. If students have questions or concerns during the first few days, an excellent resource is their advisory teacher or LEAD Counsel students who will be available to help in the hallways.
Parents, you will notice that when you visit Prairie Ridge, you will be required to press a button (on brick wall by main doors) which alerts the main office of your presence. You will then be granted access after showing identification. Your ID will then be scanned in the main office and you will receive a name badge to wear during your visit. So please do not come to school without your ID.
Finally, our teachers have been hard at work this summer analyzing data and creating our building goals for this school year. In order to ensure the academic growth of each child at Prairie Ridge, our building goals focus on each student demonstrating one year of academic and culture and climate through PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports). The learning that takes place on Wednesdays and in our team and department Professional Learning Communities (PLC's) will focus on these building goals areas, students will be able to master the standards in each content area and continue to grow academically and socially. We will monitor progress of our goals throughout the year during Team/Department PLC's using formative and summative classroom data, Iowa Assessment data/standard score growth data, and behavior/academic intervention data. It is going to be a great year of learning for all at Prairie Ridge Middle School!
