Two ACHS Football Players Named to Register's Elite Team
Senior John Banta is named to the The Des Moines Register's All-State Elite Football Team.
Senior Tanner Morgan is named to the The Des Moines Register's All-State Elite Football Team.
ANKENY, Iowa (December 18, 2015) - Two Ankeny Centennial players have been named to the Des Moines Register's annual All-State Football Team. Seniors John Banta and Tanner Morgan are both honored as Elite Team defensive members.
"We would like to congratulate Tanner and John on being selected for the Des Moines Register’s All-Iowa Football Team," said Ryan Pezzetti, ACHS football coach. "Tanner and John were a vital part of the success we had this fall on the gridiron. Both young men have worked diligently on the field and in the classroom while representing Ankeny Centennial High School in the most positive way. This elite honor is most deserving."
For decades, the Register has unveiled annual all-state teams in football, volleyball, and boys' and girls' basketball. Just recently, they announced they are expanding coverage to include 21 All-Iowa Sports Awards teams for boys and girls.
The program will recognize athletes from all across Iowa and will be selected by the Register’s staff, with input from coaches around the state.
The Register will host an All-Iowa Sports Awards banquet to recognize the athletes and their families. The inaugural banquet takes place June 18 at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines with keynote speaker five-time NFL MVP and Super Bowl champion Peyton Manning.
