Ankeny Educator Receives Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching
ANKENY, Iowa (August 24, 2016) - President Obama named Parkview Middle School
science teacher Lynne Bleeker one of 213 teachers in the nation as a recipient
of the prestigious Presidential
Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. The educators will
receive their awards at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. on September 8.
Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching is awarded to
outstanding K-12 science and mathematics teachers from across the country. The
winners are selected by a panel of distinguished scientists, mathematicians,
and educators following an initial selection process at the state level. One state finalist each from K-6 science, K-6 math, 7-12 science, and 7-12 math is then selected for national recognition.
Lynne Bleeker is
the second teacher from Parkview Middle School to achieve this award in the
past ten years.
