ANKENY, Iowa (March 28, 2017) - Eight Parkview Middle School students are among the regional award recipients, with one moving on nationally, in the University of Iowa Belin-Blank Center Scholastic Art and Writing awards. This year, more than 330,000 works were submitted to 118 affiliate regions across the country. As one of the largest national affiliates, the Belin-Blank Center adjudicated nearly 10,000 pieces of art and writing from Iowa and Midwest region.

Works receiving a Gold Key advance to the national level, only the top one percent are recognized at this level. Brenna Coleman earned a Silver Medal nationally for her flash fiction piece.
The Scholastic Art and Writing awards, presented by the nonprofit organization the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers, are the country's longest-running and most prestigious scholarship and recognition program for creative students in grades 7-12.
