Ankeny Centennial Marching Band Takes Top Honors

ANKENY, Iowa (October 2, 2017) - The Ankeny Centennial Marching Band won first place in Class 4A Parade Competition, Class 4A Field Competition, Best Overall Hornline, Best Overall Drumline, and Best Overall Color Guard at the 62nd Southwest Iowa Band Jamboree.  In addition to these honors, the Ankeny Centennial Marching Band was named Best Overall Band of the day and was presented with the Glenn Miller Society Trophy and the Masonic Lodge traveling trophy. 

 

"It was a great day for the ACHS Marching Band," said Scott Hook, director.  "Not only did the students put on two incredible performances, but they represented themselves, their community, and their school at the very highest level.  I couldn’t be more proud of them!"

 

The Ankeny Centennial Marching Band’s 2017 production is entitled “Angels in the Architecture,” featuring music from “Angels in the Architecture” by Frank Ticheli and “Ave Maria” by Franz Biebl.

 

The band consists of 180 students in grades 9-12 and is directed by Scott Hook, Burton Hable, Janelle Hook, Nick Rueckert, Mary Harris, and Jake Thieben.  They are assisted by Chad Lensch, David Raver, Emily Davis, Brogan Kearney, and Jared Lancaster.

 

The Ankeny Centennial Marching Band will be performing at 8:45 p.m. at the Valleyfest Showdown on Saturday, October 7.
