ANKENY, Iowa (February 16, 2018) - Ankeny High School’s Varsity Show Choir “Visual Adrenaline” (VA) earned back-to-back Grand Championship wins at Bettendorf High School’s “Rhythm on the Riverbend” Invitational on February 3 and Benton Community High School’s “Touch of Class” Invitational on February 11.
In addition to the Grand Championships, VA was named class 4A champions in the preliminary rounds of both contests and won caption awards at Bettendorf for Best Vocals, Best Choreography, Best Band, and Best Female Soloist (Makenna Davis). At Benton, the show choir won captions for Best Choreography, Best Crew, Best Opener, Best Female Soloist (Sydney Christman) and Spirit of Generosity.
Visual Adrenaline is directed by Ben Walters and is choreographed by Kevin Chase. Ankeny High School’s prep show choirs, Intensity and Perpetual Motion also finished in the top three in their divisions respectively at these competitions.
