ANKENY, Iowa (March 5, 2018) - Ankeny High School and Southview Middle School Quiz Bowl teams earn the top two spots at the Iowa State and Regional History Bowl and Bee finals. The JV team won the State History Bowl final by defeating Des Moines Christian in the championship match. They finished the day with a 3-1 record. The varsity team placed second losing to Waukee in the championship match. They finished the day with a 5-1 record.
In the History Bee portion, Jackson Porter won the JV State title and Kieran McCormick placed second. In the varsity division, Colton Lammers placed third.
The tournament questions were from the areas of geography, U.S. and world history, religions, and American government and economics.
"The students did an amazing job!" said coach Nathan Coombes. "I'm very proud of these students for their accomplishments this year and for being great representatives of the Ankeny community."
