Ankeny Community Schools Receives Award for Financial Reporting
ANKENY, Iowa (April 2, 2018) - The Ankeny Community School District received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for having met or exceeded the program's high standards for financial reporting and accountability. The district’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the 2017 fiscal year qualified for the award and included the meticulous work of numerous employees throughout the district. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.
Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence
The GFOA established the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program in 1945 to encourage and assist state and local governments to go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles, to prepare comprehensive annual financial reports that evidence the spirit of transparency and full disclosure, and to recognize individual governments achieving that goal.
Selected members of the GFOA professional staff and the GFOA Special Review Committee (SRC), which comprises individuals with expertise in public-sector financial reporting and includes financial statement preparers, independent auditors, academics, and other finance professionals, review the reports submitted to the CAFR program.
Ankeny Community Schools is unified in its commitment, passion, and vision so every learner is prepared to achieve a lifetime of personal success.
