Ankeny Student Wins State: On to Nationals

ANKENY, Iowa (April 10, 2018) - Eric Hou from Northview won the state You Be the Chemist Challenge®.  He will represent Iowa when he competes with 42 other students at the national event this summer in Washington, D.C.

Students from Ankeny placed in the top four at the state competition.  Southview's Clara Freese earned second place, Thomas Brustkern from Northview placed third, and Aiden Orth from Parkview placed fourth.

Twenty-two students from Ankeny Schools competed in the state competition on April 7.

 

You be the Chemist Challenge®

The You Be The Chemist Challenge® is an interactive academic contest that encourages students in grades 5-8 to explore chemistry concepts and their real-world applications. The Challenge provides a unique opportunity for a variety of individuals and organizations—including schools, members of the chemical industry, educators, and other community partners—to come together and show their support for STEM education.
