It’s time to clean out your closet! Project Fresh Start, a volunteer organization sponsored by Ankeny Schools Community Engagement, is collecting gently-used and new prom and formal dresses for their annual dress giveaway in March. The gowns will be made available to students in 11th and 12th grades who plan to attend their junior/senior prom.
If you’d like to contribute, please bring your donation to Community Engagement, 306 SW School St., or Ankeny Service Center, 406 SW School St. by February 22. Please call ahead.
Dresses will be distributed:
March 1 - 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. March 2 - 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. March 3 - 1:00 -3:00 p.m. March 4 - 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. Parkview Middle School, 105 NW Pleasant St., Ankeny
Students are not charged for the dresses, and only school names (not recipients) are recorded. Participating schools include:
Ankeny Centennial High School
Ankeny High School
Ankeny Christian Academy
“Our goal is that no one should have to miss prom because they can’t afford a dress,” said project organizer Dave Kissinger.
If you have questions about the annual giveaway, please contact Kissinger at firstname.lastname@example.org or Ankeny Community Engagement at 289-3960.
