Ankeny Schools has successfully met all the requirements from the ALICE Training Institute to become an ALICE Certified Organization.
To achieve this milestone, Ankeny Schools:
Had 91% of all employees trained with the ALICE e-learning module
Conducted on site trainings with our staff
Engaged our students in the trainings
Engaged our community in ALICE principles
Included ALICE strategies in our district emergency preparedness manual
This school year, the Ankeny School District began training on a different way to handle an active shooter situation called ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate). While these plans were underway, the Iowa Legislature also passed a new bill Senate File 2364, which requires all schools to have a plan in place for an active shooter and to train school personnel on those plans annually. The ALICE program, provides strategies for staff and students on what to do if an armed intruder enters their building or classroom.
Ankeny Community Schools is unified in its commitment, passion, and vision so every learner is prepared to achieve a lifetime of personal success.
